Elegance. Yes, Nebbiolo can be elegant, and in the hands of Colla quite elegant. The grapes for this wine come from an area at the edge of Barbabresco, an area entitled to the d’Alba name as opposed to the more general Langhe name. This wine has an elusive, haunting quality that I have long loved. The fruit is red with spice and anice, and the tannins appear later, to provide length and structure. While I love drinking Barbaresco and Barolo, this wine is equally satisfying in its own distinctive way.
