Helene Charbaut is a talented young grower and a 4th generation vigneron located in the Grand Vallee de la Marne. She received her wine management degree in Dijon, opting to work in Burgundy for a few years before heading home and working with esteemed Champagne houses, Leclerc Briant and Pehu Simmonet. She is truly a farmer at heart and convinced her father to give her land to work with converting her parcels to Biodynamic with regenerative farming, even creating a ‘sheep co-op’. Working with 3 total hectares spread through 3 different villages and all being planted in the 1960’s.
Helene’s first vintage was 2020 with a tiny 3000 bottles being produced between 2 different cuvées. A few years later, she has 5 different bottlings. The two wines we have today are her blend, ‘La Charbauterie’, a blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot noir with a tiny portion of Pinot Muenier, and her, ‘Les Pinailleuses’, which is 100% Pinot noir from what she feels are her best barrels each year.
