Every month we choose a different small producer Champagne. It's sometimes a challenge, but we love coming up with new bubbles for you, our devoted Champagne drinkers. It's a wonderful monthly treat.

Shortly after the Second World War, many growers started bottling their own wine, the Gamet story starts with two of those families. The Garnier family were farmers originally who expanded into tending vines in Mardeuil on the left bank of the Marne. Francois Gamet, grandson of the Garnier family took over the vines in the 1950’s, simultaneously Robert Heucq was expanding his family's holdings on the right bank of the Marne in Fleury-la-Rivière. I’m getting to the point…. In 1993, Fabienne Huecq, Robert’s daughter, and Phillipe, the son of Francois Gamet met and fell in love, and in 2018 their daughter, Marianne, took over wine making duties.

Combined, the estate sits at 9 hectares between 3 plots, all Organic, on clay, marl and silex soils. This cuvée is mainly Pinot Meunier with Pinot noir and Chardonnay to round out the blend. 85% of this cuvée comes from 2020 with 15% coming from the reserve wine that was started in 2014. The wine stays on its lees for 18 months, mostly in stainless steel with 10% oak.

The wine shows elegance and finesse with notes of peach, quince, roasted almonds, acacia flower and hawthorn. A fruity and floral cuvée offering an intense clay minerality, with fresh cut apples. This champagne is great for clams, mussels, smoked scallops or as an aperitif. (Jason)
