When Mari Womack made her first visit to the shop recently, we had no expectations. We had heard of her winery, founded in 2011, but she had only done direct sales up until now. As we tasted through the wines it became clear that she knew what she was doing. Her wines were balanced, subtle, and not showy, but very satisfying. But we were not looking to take on a new Washington winery this late in the summer. Then we looked at her pricing! Here we have a small, owner-operated winery, making a style of Washington wines we like — less extracted, more balanced — at prices that we rarely see from small local producers. We bought three of her wines and are happy to pour this one for you.
