Burgaud Beaujolais-Lantignie Blanc 2023

Burgaud Beaujolais-Lantignie Blanc 2023

Jean-Marc Burgaud Beaujolais Blanc 2023
$21     Soul Wine Price $17.85

The last time we featured Burgaud’s wines I wrote:

Burgaud is a small family run estate (basically it’s just Jean-Marc) operating 17 hectares of organically farmed vineyards deep in the heart of Morgon. Jean Marc is extremely meticulous and exacting, all his wines go through carbonic maceration, which is fairly traditional (there is a newer school that doesn’t use carbonic). They are reserved wines that age gracefully and are incredible values. Crunchy and bright with great depth and acid, open them up a couple of hours before you eat to shake off their youth. And don’t forget to stick a few bottles away for 5-7 years. At these prices you can afford to.

All this is still true today, and after the inflation we saw last year that is remarkable. I have said before that it is easy for us in the wine business to chase the latest garagiste producer making a barrel of wine. We want what we can’t get. But we can’t forget the Burgauds of the world, who make excellent wines and price them fairly (though there are few like Burgaud these days). If you do a little research, you will find that Burgaud’s wines receive accolades from the wine press equal to or greater than wines costing much more.

While we are pouring at our Tasting Bar this weekend, we are also appealing to those of you that can’t make it to the tasting to take a close look at these. Stocking up is not a bad thing to do, even if the tariffs do not happen.
