It’s been a minute since we sold this unique Calabrain Rosato made from the native Gagliopo grape, and I am certainly happy to have it here for the end of summer. To classify it merely as rosé does the wine a disservice. That doesn’t mean I don’t want you to enjoy it on a sunny afternoon or evening. Rather it means I would buy  a few and drink them with more autumnal, Italian dishes.  

However, whenever you drink it, you will find the aromatics wonderful, complex and maybe even exotic. There is some structure, closer to a light red but not tannic and the flavors contain red and orange fruits, a hint of peach/apricot pit and a long finish. Drink it with a spicy pizza, grilled lamb and eggplant, a robust pasta dish or simply salumi and a Calabrian cheese if you can find one. I would also savor a glass watching the sunset and listening to Khurangbin.
